This page summarizes how Core Selective Evaluation Process ("C-SEP", "we", "us", "our") uses personal data collected from you. It is important that you understand which data We collect while you use Our Services and how We manage that data. The privacy of visitors to Our website and users of Our services is very important to Us, and We are committed to safeguarding it. When you first access Our website, you are asked to consent to Our use of cookies/policy in accordance with the terms explained herein.

B. Who We are

C-SEP provides training, assessment, and related resources/services (referreed to broadly as Our "Services"), specializing in general education, SLD identification, and Special Needs support. We provide a range of Services directly to individuals (e.g., Teachers, Diagnosticians, Speech and Language Pathologists, etc.) and institutions alike (including public and private schools, universities, and districts). We are likewise certified and practicing SLD evaluators and higher-ed instructors, and therefore sometimes work directly with parents and students in an assessment/educational capacity.


C. Collection of personal information

When you interact with Us (e.g., via email), and/or express interest in attending or purchasing a product or service on offer, We collect your personal data. The data collected is strictly for the purpose of providing Services and managing Our business (e.g., registering you for training, communicationing with you, processing your payment when applicable, tracking your attendance to trainings for the purpose of certification). In most instances, the data we obtain from you comes from the third-party services We utilize. These third-parties include the host of Our website, the systems used to manage registration, payment portals, email accounts used to communicate with you, applications used to conduct market research and make service improvement, and the platforms we use to host and conduct virtual training sessions).


Our reasons for collecting this data include:

-   to present Service opportunities and make you aware of Our variety of Services/support; and/or
-   to fulfill a contract (e.g. to provide the Services purchased or offered); and/or
-   to conduct marketing activities (which is only sent to individuals that have given consent; Your consent can be withdrawn at any time); and/or
-   to comply with Our legal obligations (e.g. We may have regulatory obligations to report or share information); and/or
-   for a variety of business purposes which are in Our legitimate interests as a provider of educational products and services.

Any data that We collect is managed in a way that fulfils Our legitimate interests and in a way which is reasonable for you to expect as part of Our business operations while not materially impacting on your rights and freedoms.


The type of data We collect, store, and use depends on the type of Services and/or interaction you select. However, please be advised that We offer and provide Our Services through third parties (namely, Google/Gmail, MailChimp, GoToWebinar, Zoom, Survey Monkey, Facebook, Amazon, Kajabi, Hostinger, and GitHub). In general, We collect, store, and use the following types of personal information as a first party (C-SEP):

-   information about your computer including your IP address, geographical location, browser type and version, and operating system;
-   information that you enter while using any of the services on Our website (e.g., data entered into the Webform; personal data collected for training registration);
-   information that is generated while using Our website, including when, how often, and under what circumstances you use the website or complete a form hosted on the website;
-   information contained in any communications that you send to Us by email or through Our website (e.g., the Webform), including the content of the communication and metadata associated with that interaction;
-   information about your visits to and use of Our website including the referral source, length of visit, page views, and website navigation paths;
-   information, such as your name and email address, that you personally enter when you register for one of Our free/paid webinars;
-   registration, personal data, and purchase/payment details that you provide when you register and pay to utilize Our services;
-   other purchase information for a product or service (e.g. postal address, phone number and payment information) which may have to be shared to fulfill the contract;
-   information, including your name and email address, that you provide in order to set up subscriptions to Our regular emails and/or newsletters;
-   information collected as part of surveys which are associated with research, courses, and/or training conducted by Us;
-   customer service and enrollment support information obtained via email or webform initiated by you or your request for a product or Services;
-   user generated data (e.g. your participation in webinars/trainings);
-   video, image and audio recordings (e.g. collected during virtual training) that you participate in. This may involve including images of you and/or individuals/things around you at that time, as well as the audio recordings of your spoken responses and background noise recorded during the session;
-   any other personal information that you share with Us (e.g., via attachments, images, etc.).

Before disclosing another's personal information to us, you must obtain that person’s consent for both the disclosure and for Our processing of that data in accordance with this policy.


D. Using your personal information collected from Our website

The website host utilized by C-SEP (Hostinger) tracks visitors (their location, IP address) for the purposes of platform security and usage statistics. C-SEP, however, does not collect, monitor, or share visitor usage with others. Your privacy settings can be adjusted using privacy controls on the website, as well as those on your internet browser. We provide advice below for managing cookies in your browser.


C-SEP collects and uses personal information submitted to Us through emails, forms, or links available on Our website (e.g., Webform, registration forms). We use this information to provide you with the best possible experience and Services (for example, to correspond with you; to register you for an event; to process payment; to provide a Service; to verify your attendance to Our training; to prevent fraud). Our services and support are managed by and integrated into other third-party technologies (as outlined herein). To this end, We may use your personal information for the following:

-   managing Our products and Services;
-   enabling you to learn more about or to use the services made available on Our website;
-   answering inquiries regarding Our products, Services, and expertise;
-   sending you email notifications that you have specifically requested (e.g., webinar/training information);
-   sharing with you information pertaining to your legitimate interest (e.g., sharing links to webinars you have selected to attend; confirming receipt of payment);
-   sending you Our email newsletter, if you have requested to receive it (you can withdraw at any time);
-   processing your inquiries and registrations for upcoming free/paid trainings/webinars advertised and managed on the website;
-   dealing with inquiries and complaints made by or about you relating to Our website or products/Services;
-   ensuring that We comply with laws and regulations and defend and exercise Our legal rights;
-   improving the function of Our website and business;
-   personalizing Our website.

When you submit or We collect any personal information from you, C-SEP will only use this data for the purposes specified in this policy and according to your legitimate interest. For instance, if a visitor completes a webform to register for an upcoming webinar, the information they submit will only be used to register that individual for that particular webinar. The information will likewise be used to process any associated payments, to issue certification, and maintain records of attendance. All records and data associated with this provision of Services will only be kept for as long as necessary to provide and process the Services requested.

If you provide Us with your name and email address by contacting Us or registering for a free or paid (online) training, We will only use that data in accordance with the license you grant to us. We may share your personal data with team members who help deliver Our Services. Depending on the Service provided, We may also be required to share user personal data with academic institutions, instructors, and/or employers - for instance when a district pays for you to attend a training. Such information is only shared when that third-party has a legitimate and legal interest in having access to your information.


If you (pre-)register for and/or attend a C-SEP webinar, your data will be collected and used for the express purpose of providing Services to you for that particular webinar. C-SEP will only use this data for the purposes of processing and ensuring access to this particular Service. We will not use the data in any other manner (e.g., to promote other Services). We do not share this data with third parties beyond those identified previously. However, individuals that register to attend events and trainings on off-site platforms, such as Kajabi, GoToWebinars, or Zoom, may have their data collected by these third parties. C-SEP On-Demand courses are hosted on and managed through Kajabi. Regstration, attendance, and certification occur on this third party platform. C-SEP is not responsible for how these platforms manage your data. Please see the respective links below to learn more about individual third-party privacy policies.


The promotional material and general emails that We send are managed through third party entities. More specifically, We use Hostinger Mail, Gmail and MailChimp, and these entities are responsible for security and privacy of the data collected therein. We do not share or sell contact lists.


While exercising our legitimate business interest, we only contact individuals that have: 1) reached out directly to Us via email to make an inquiry; 2) registered for or inquired about a free or paid resources/training via email or using a registration system we manage; 3) have specifically requested/registered to receive the C-SEP Newsletter.


Visitors who participate in surveys hosted by C-SEP, or those individuals that contact Us via email through Our message Webform or via their personal email account will be interacting with Us through a third party (Hostinger Mail, Google/Gmail). We respond to these and delete the interaction as soon as the reason for the interaction has been addressed.


Only individuals that have register to receive the C-SEP newsletter and/or promotional information will be contacted for this purpose through MailChimp. Registration can be withdrawn at any time. Simply contact Us directly and request to be removed from the mailing list or click on the link to unsubscribe. The "unsubscribe" link is always included on MailChimp correspondence.



E. Disclosing personal information

Except as provided in this policy, We will not/do not provide your personal information to third parties beyond those incorporated into Our business and service delivery structure. We will not, without your express consent, supply or sell your personal information to any third party.


We may disclose your personal information to any of Our employees, officers, professional advisers as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. We may also share your personal data with regulators, law enforcement, courts, with Our professional advisors, or with other third parties that provide assistance for Our services.


We also work closely with employers and educational institutions that make Our Service available to their staff. In this frame, we may share your data with an employer/educational institution upon request (e.g., to confirm your completion of a training when they have covered the cost of your attendance). We may also share you data in such instance to process payment, monitor usage/progress, handle misconduct or criminal activity, and to safeguard Our Services/resources/interest. At the same time, your employer or someone acting on your behalf may share your personal details with us, for instance when they register you for a product or service We provide. Regardless of how We obtain your data (through you or through a third party acting on your behalf) the policy as described herein applies.


Finally, We may disclose your personal information on the following legal conditions:

-   to the extent that We are required to do so by law;
-   in connection with any ongoing or prospective legal proceedings;
-   in order to establish, exercise, or defend Our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk);
-   to the purchaser (or prospective purchaser) of any business or asset that We are (or are contemplating) selling; and
-   to any person who We reasonably believe may apply to a court or other competent authority for disclosure of that personal information where, in Our reasonable opinion, such court or authority would be reasonably likely to order disclosure of that personal information.


F. International data transfers

Information that We collect may be stored, processed in, and transferred between any of the countries in which We operate in order to enable Us to use the information in accordance with this policy. Some of Our staff work outside of the United States. This means your personal data may be processed outside of the country in which you live. All information that We collect, to the best of Our knowledge, is stored in the United States and/or in Europe depending on the location of Our team members. We adhere to the relevant US and European requirements.


G. Managing and retaining personal information

This section sets out Our data retention policies and procedure, which are designed to help ensure that We comply with Our legal obligations regarding the retention and deletion of personal information. Personal information that We process for any purpose is not kept for longer than is necessary. Without prejudice, We manage and delete personal data falling within the categories set out below, at the date/time set out below:

More specifically, after a query has been addressed or Services provided, all related personal email interaction is deleted.
Business transactions/Service-related electronic correspondence Personal details (name, email, etc); Registration information; Course and training information; Payment and Sales data; Business transactions that occur via email are kept for one year, then deleted. However, payment data (e.g., copies of Purchase Orders, Invoices) are maintained for up to ten years to meet Our business and tax obligations under US law.
Course registration and attendance Personal details (name, email, etc); Registration information; Course/training title and date; Payment type and amount to attend (when applicable); Customer service data associated with the registration Attendance and qualifications in (virtual) training are retained for up to five years. This data is kept for this period to certify attendance and to generate certificates after-the-fact in the event that a new certificate needs to be issued. Copies of individual certificates are not maintained, but a list of courses and their respective attendees are kept for up to five years.
Course/Training recordings Audio or video of a training/course/event. In general, recordings of training events are maintained for no more than 10 years. In most instances, however, these are deleted within six months of their recording.
Requests to Unsubscribe from the C-SEP newsletter Personal details (name, email, etc); Activity and usage information Individuals that request to no longer receive the C-SEP newsletter by using the "unsubscribe" link incorporated into all MailChimp correspondence are removed instantly and automatically. By comparison, those that make this request via email or webform are deleted once Our staff processes the written request. After manually deleting the name from the newsletter mailing list, the staff memeber will delete the email request as well.


H. Security of your personal information

We take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of your personal information. We store all the personal information you provide Us (your name and email address) on Our secure (password- and firewall-protected) servers operated by Hostinger Mail, Gmail, Google Drive, MailChimp, GoToWebinar, Zoom, Kajabi. Nonetheless, the transmission of information over the internet via email and message forms is inherently insecure, and We cannot guarantee the security of data sent in this manner.


I. Children/Minors

Our website and training services do not cater to and are not targeted at visitors/users who are children or minors (defined here as under the age of 18). Nonetheless, if you are a parent or guardian of a child or minor and you suspect that We have unknowingly/unwillingly acquired data on your child, please reach out to Us via email or the webform. We will delete and purge any data associated with your child upon your written request.


Our profession, nonetheless, sometimes requires Us to deal with Children and Minors either directly or indirectly since some of Our Services are delivered directly to and on behalf of schools, academic institutions, and professionals that work with children and minors. In these scenarios, any student information shared with Us in training falls under the responsibility of the individual/schools We train. It is therefore the school that has control over and responsibility for any personal data introduced in trainings. Participants should act in accordance with their school's privacy policy.


To ensure student anonymity, both in public and private interactions (e.g., in a training discussion; email inquiry), We ask that a child/minor's identity always be masked to ensure privacy. This includes masking, changing, and/or eliminating first and last names, student ID numbers, and dates of birth.


Any information presented by C-SEP in our training courses/resources is always carefully masked to ensure anonymity and privacy, regardless of the individual's age.


J. Your rights


Your rights concerning personal data vary depending on the country you reside in. In general, everyone has a right to access their own data, to correct inaccurate data, to object to or request restriction of Our processing, to request deletion of data, and/or to request that We transfer your data to another location. You also have the right to complain to a local supervisory authority. However, should you need to lodge a complaint, We would appreciate being given the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach a supervisory authority.


You also have a right to opt-out of marketing communications We send at any time. You can exercise this right by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in the marketing e-mails We send you, or you can contact Us via email and request to unsubscribe. We do request that you use the same email address that is registered when opting out to ensure that we "unsubscribe" the correct individual.


You may likewise ask Us to provide you with any personal information We hold about you. To obtain this information, please provide us evidence of your identity (for this purpose, We will accept a photocopy of your passport certified by a notary) and an email from the matching account you wish to acquire information on.


In practice, you will usually expressly agree in advance to Our use of your personal information. Nonetheless, you may instruct Us at any time to delete and purge any data We have collected on you.


K. Third party services

We utilize third parties Services to manage and deliver Our Services to you. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the privacy policies and practices of third parties. These third parties, for instance, may track visitors and collect data for their own purposes of targeted advertising and profiling when an individual utilizes their technology to provide Our services.


The third parties We use to conduct Our business include the following:

a)   Hostinger and Hostinger webmail which hosts this website;
b)   links to Survey Monkey to participate in an online survey about C-SEP, who may track visitors and collect data on individuals that participate in surveys hosted by them for their own marketing and profiling;
c)   contact forms and email links where visitors can make comments or queries to C-SEP through Hostinger, Gmail and MailChimp, and these entities may track visitors and collect data for their own marketing or profiling purposes;
d)   contact forms or links where visitors can register for Kajabi courses, and these entities may track visitors and collect data for their own marketing or profiling purposes (e.g., Zoom, Kajabi, GoToWebinar);
e)   webinar/training platforms including Kajabi, GoToWebinar, and Zoom, which track visitors and collect data;
f)   contact form(s) or link(s) where visitors can register for paid/free webinar/training courses, and the third-party entities used to provide these services may track visitors and collect data for their own marketing or profiling purposes (e.g., Google, Zoom, Kajabi, GoToWebinar);
g)   a link to HTML5/GitHub which produced the free template this website is designed around, and they may track or collect data on individuals that use the hyperlink required by that third party located in the footer of the C-SEP website;
h)   payment links to PayPal;
h)   links to resources available on Amazon;

M. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. We use cookies to make Our websites more user-friendly. C-SEP, however, does not track users, We do not host third-party advertisers, nor do We collect or store any information on website visitors. However, the third parties used to provide you with services and host Our resources, such as Hostinger or Google, do track individuals, as mentioned above.
-   Hostinger, the host of Our website, collects performance cookies. These cookies collect information about how a visitor uses a website, for instance which pages are accessed. In MailChimp, the service We use for Newsletters, it shows Us which email or web page visitors clicked through from in order to visit Our website, and whether you opened an email We sent you.
-   The website also uses functional cookies. These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as the language or the region you are in). For instance, these cookies can be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customize.
